Your local Community Association Needs You
Based in Leeds 15, The Garden Village Welfare Association was founded in 1946, with a Community Hall being constructed and opened in 1952 on land donated to the community by Gertrude Bray, a builder of hundreds of homes across Leeds, a self-taught architect, urban planning advocate, politician and mother.
It is one of the few remaining spaces available for our community to meet, but it is in danger of being lost forever.
We need the help of the local community to bring it to life and to make it thrive again, before it is lost forever.
There will be an OPEN DAY on Saturday 3rd October 2026 from 11am to 4pm.
Please drop in to view the facilities, learn about the history of the Association, the Community Centre and Gertrude Bray, and discuss how you could be part of the next chapter of this vitally important local asset.
